What does it mean to port a number?
Number portability is simply the
ability to keep your phone number when you
change phone carriers. In this case, you will
port your number to iareanet who will become
your carrier for that number.
Are there numbers
that I should not port?
You
cannot port a
number that is associated with your DSL, or high
speed access line.
Will my service be interrupted?
Porting numbers will take place on a
Schedule and your new service will be tested on
that same day to insure no interruption of
service.
What should I expect?
Porting your number from an existing line
will make that line unusable to make outgoing
calls, your line will become unusable after the
number is ported. Callers will continue to dial
your ported number and will reach your PBX main
company greeting.
What if I want to keep that line?
You need to call your local carrier and ask
them to provide you with a new number. NOTE:
Only do this after the porting of number is
completed.
